The second days play of last month's Dubai Desert Classic saw some very strange, and at times quite dangerous weather in the UAE. The day started off OK with the warm sun out but with big clouds looming overhead, and just after lunchtime the winds got up and dust and sand were flying all over the place. A couple of trees came down on the course, and in the city we heard that a couple of cranes fell over due to the high winds too.
The play was suspended, players were brought in as were the TV crew, and not long after we were cleared for the day.
I've not seen weather like it in my 5 visits to Dubai and although it was quite a fun experience in some ways, and I got a different picture than normal I can say that I am glad the hot sun came back the following day!
3 good things:
1 - Witnessing the very odd weather in Dubai - strangely exciting and although a bit tedious when it got bad...the change is good for the soul
2 - A great 5k run in the gym after work
3 - Drinks, grub and a good chat with a work pal in his hotel room in the evening
