A candid portrait of my Mum and Dad taken today at a lunch, my shout for once, given that they have put up with me for 2 years and 4 months back at home in Norfolk.
I took them to the Ingham Swan in Norfolk, just next to Stalham near Norwich. It's a lovely pub with a great chef and the food is very lovely indeed. We had a good couple of hours to relax and enjoy the food, discussing the pain that has been the last 2 years....kidding of course....and talking about my next step, heading back down south initially to London and then perhaps out into the countryside, where I might end up setting down some routes, and...dare I hope...find a nice woman to do it with...!
I decided a toast would be good and ordered 3 shots of something fruity and sweet, and quite strong but delicious.
I'll miss my folks.
They have been good company, we haven't wound each other up, they've provided counsel at times and wisdom too. It's going to be a bit strange leaving the family home again, but it's been worth it. I know I am back very soon for an appointment locally and i'll make regular trips back as and when I can but i'll probably have a little lump in my throat when I leave.
