That's reactionary talk, Debbie. Don't you know that it's society's fault they're bored, for not spending all our time and taxpayers' money 24/7 catering for their needs? ( I prefer your words though!)
@wordpixman ha yes I know we should have used our hard earned money to build them skate parks etc to keep them off the street - we will end up paying though as the talk is that they could get 6 years in prison !
@stoat ... Can I go too, please? I could do with a few good free meals and a nursemaid to tuck me in at night after a hard day's shouting and complaining about the unfairnes of life! (I must admit though that there have been noticeably fewer anti-social incidents where I live since the community funded a skate park for them - but where does it all end?)
Our children need to be inspired to stop them from doing this type of thoughtless vandalism. Unfortunately there are too many around these days without proper parental involvement. Either they have no parents, the parents they have don't care or are too young to understand the importance of teaching their children right from wrong. If there are generations of parents with no aspirations, who've never worked, and their children and their children's children etc. etc. have been brought up in this environment then unfortunately it becomes 'normal' for them. It's a very difficult problem to solve but imho everything comes down good parenting and giving children consequences and aspirations....Sorry, rant over xx
@psychographer couldn't agree more - and sad to think that the solutions are going to be hard to put in place but it definitely starts with trying to educate the parents (and that's what I don't understand - where did it go wrong that people now need educating in common decency ?) Ok I'm waffling now so better stop !
@bobbyj 3 teenagers (17 & 18 yrs) thought it wold be fun to start a fire in a bin at the back of the shops. They've been caught and are out on bail
