Helen was visiting the Huntington Botanical Gardens at the same time as I. She had the most beautiful English accent. As a huge fan of the Queen's English, I could sit and listen to her all day!
Beautiful portrait Ron, love the black and white effect and the way you used the sun light across her face to bring out her features and highlight her laughter lines:)
Another good one, Ron. You're on a roll now, snappin' stranger's pics left and right. It probably wasn't hard for you to take even the first one. You don't strike me as someone reluctant to talk to a stranger. Striking up a conversation with this gal earned you the chance to hear her lovely accent. Looks like f/5.6 is the perfect aperture for portrait shots — the background's nicely blurred but she well focused.
@pcoulson Thanks for the comments, Peter. I was fortunate to catch the angle of the sun in this shot. The light was actually a bit harsh, but post processing can help greatly, as you know. Laughter lines - I like that!
@lyndemc Thanks, Denise - oh, trust me, it's no small thing for me to chat up a stranger. I have a number of regrets over what could have been great opportunities due to a lack of initiative. Hopefully it gets better over time.
