OK, Steve is not a stranger in the classic sense, as he is in my Tuesday night photo class. But!! Up until the class I did not know him - so by my rules, which I make up as needed, he qualifies. Our class this particular evening just happened to be portraits and we had some professional equipment, so it's probably a better shot than I would have created on my own. I admit too much.
Somehow you have got him to look approachable and a very nice person to get to know better! Maybe there is more to portrait photography than just a camera!
Lovely portrait Ron, great lighting, skin tones and focus, always pays to have the right equipment don't you think, just remember "Every friend you have ever know was a stranger until you met" :)
@maggiemae Thank you Maggie, but I take no credit for Steve's approachability - he really is a great guy! Just one of those lucky people who takes a good photo. Thanks for stopping by!
@louannwarren Oh, Lou Ann, you are quite complimentary. I've never thought of myself as a portrait photographer - so many things I don't know about it, and lots to learn. I began my 100 strangers challenge in order to address that weakness, so maybe I'm learning. Thank you for your kind words.
@pcoulson Thank you so much Peter! I like your logic regarding "former" strangers. And yes, the right equipment makes all the difference in the world. A nice backdrop, some properly places lighting and some good advice on exposure settings, and the result is magic.
@taffy Thank you muchly Taffy. I'm sure Steve will be pleased when I show him the result. (Not sure I want to see the corresponding shots he took of me though).
@summerfield Thank you Vikki, and yes, I did have my turn at being the subject. Fortunately I have not seen them yet. I'm sure they turned out awful - not because of the photographic abilities though!
@lyndemc Thanks so much Denise. The stranger thing is still difficult, but yeah, it is getting a little easier. It will probably never be quite that comfortable. You too? ;-)
