This guy was greeting those of us who got together with some of the Southern California 365ers at the SD Wild Animal Park. This colorful boy is a Himalayan chicken or something like that. I think by the time I got this shot he had tired of all of the camaras clicking away in his face.
@terryliv Ugh! I may have to rethink that visit to your fair city, my friend. And I was reminded by @joysfocus that it wasn't a chicken, it's a monal. Apparently monal is Himalayan for chicken.
@stray_shooter Hahaha! You're killing me Ron. He's not a chicken. He's a pheasant and I'm glad you didn't call him a chicken to his face. He probably would have gone for your lens.
@damfino Thanks Egle! It was great meeting you and putting a face to a name. I hope I didn't cause you to spend more money on a new lens! I took a few with yours when we traded and they came out very well - you already have a very good lens.
@summerfield Vikki, anything in that place can be fried - or barbequed. We did, in fact, head out for barbeque immediately after the gathering. I trust our fare came from Arkansas.
@aglennc I believe this was taken with the biggie, Anita. Now that I think about it, he was a little close, and I'm a bit surprised that the depth of field worked as it did.
@pcoulson Thanks Peter, as I was saying to Anita, this was using the 150-600mm zoom, and I'm a bit surprised, given how close he was, that I got such narrow depth of field. Guess I didn't need the macro for this shoot!
@gilbertwood Thanks Denise, you're only seeing part of him. Some of the others have posted full shots of this guy, and his colors are great throughout his entire body. Never seen anything like it.
@888rachel Not a chicken I've been reminded, Rachel, but a monal. And since I don't know what a monal is, consider his a pheasant. Looks like a chicken to me.
It was really great meeting you! (and trying that lens too :))
