As was the case last year, my front porch was chosen by a mama hummingbird to birth and raise her family. I had been keeping an eye on the two eggs in this tiny nest, and on this day the eggs were replaced with the tiniest of flying creatures. For perspective the top of that nest is no more than 3 cm across. As I did last year I'll photograph and post periodically as the babies grow.
Lucky you! I must get back to my friend's house to photograph her babies in an easy location like this! My little mama built in the high rise this time... Can't wait to see what we'll have in store here!
Incredible. Spring, and time for new life......... We've got a nest in a ficus tree on our porch, but it's too high to photograph without a ladder, and we'd scare Mama away.......
