Highway Wind Farm by stray_shooter

Highway Wind Farm

From the saddle. I was riding the bike home from the rally and came upon the Banning Pass, east of LA, where the winds are plentiful and strong. Years ago, futuristic folks constructed hundreds of windmills here and they were spinning fast on this day. The photographer in me noted the illusion of the windmills appearing to be installed in the middle of the highway.
impressive looking view...have a real soft spot for these...look so out of his world..very cool

More multi taking on the bike I see Ron, as a biker you have to be fully aware of your surroundings at all times, well spotted and very well captured:)

OK...interesting visual shift, but I must tell you I absolutely abhor those atrocities! You know I'm not usually given to this far range to disdain, but they truly weird me out, and I'm amazed at those who love them! How about the natural beauty of the unmarred landscape?! (Sorry...I vent every time I see them... Ken's getting pretty tired of listening to me!)

@maree_sanderson Thanks Maree. Lots of strong feelings about these. It's a huge wind center, probably a couple thousand windmills. The tree huggers are mostly for them, the land-owners certainly are, the nature folks cry that they kill birds, many believe they're unsightly. I just think of them as unending photo material.

@summerfield Yes, galivanting, as in buzzing around on the Harley. Arizona Bike Week was last week so some friends and I went over to partake of some of the festivities. This was taken on the trip back home.

@gilbertwood I did manage to stay on, though as strong as the winds can be in the area (they put these here for a reason) it was definitely a possibility!

@simta В этом месте Татьяна, вероятно, около 1500 ветряные мельницы. Я захватил только небольшая часть из них здесь. Впечатляющее зрелище.

@pcoulson Good advice Peter! And in this area one must be extra vigilant - crazy Californians inhabit these highways. Speed limits and all overall courtesy are roundly disregarded.

@Weezilou You and Maree are on opposite sides of the fence! See my reply to her. They do make for cool photos sometimes!

@stray_shooter - do you ever do that friday the 13th thing? i've always wanted to go to port dover/lake erie to watch the bikers but i had always been told it wasn't a good idea. this year there's only 1 friday the 13th and it's in may. perhaps i'll ask bill if he wants to go for a drive. :-)

@summerfield I have to admit I've never heard of this event. I don't know why it wouldn't be a good idea - you'll see some very beautiful custom designs and some custom designed people too! I say go!

I'm always in the minority when I rant, Ron. I think you know I'm not an extremist, but I do think they mar the natural beauty of the landscape. I feel strongly they'll be removed someday and be seen as ineffective as the curly light bulbs! ...but that wasn't what I set out to say!!! Ha! Your comment to Peter regarding speed limits and courtesy is 110% spot on! Stay safe!
