My Get Pushed challenge this week from @Kali66 is to capture and post a memento mori stillife, which as she explains, represents a symbol of the fleeting and temporary nature of our existence. It's not exactly a stillife (although he is very still), but he does appear to be rather ghostly. I'm working on a better response to the challenge.
@kali66 I admit, Kali, that it's not quite in line with your challenge, but I vow to get something more appropriate done - after tomorrow's Flamingo shot of course. ;-)
The lady cutting my hair today was talking about an upcoming trip to Tombstone (her first). Thinking of your photos, I was telling her how wonderful it would be and asked if she takes photos. She said she'd given her husband a camera for Christmas (a *real camera*! Imagine!) and he's excited to capture some nice photos!
faddy diets have a lot to answer for...
i like this for the challenge. Memento mori - remember death, is well depicted here.. therefore fits the bill..
i'm loving the whole get-up.. the clothes are perfection for this - they too have seen better days.. the hat also.. love the 3/4 profile showing space between the jawbone and the rest of the head.. just wish he'd had more space to the left of camera, to look into.. great backdrop and 'seat'..
What an interesting capture of this old timer Ron with lovely soft tones and textures, love the composition, lighting and fine detail, your spot on with this Memento Mori, definitely a still life :)
The grinning is a wee bit disconcerting - however, remains a rather strangely absorbing image. Good interpretation. Lovely tones and shades. And like Pam, everyday is a school day here on 365.
@kali66 Thanks for your gracious acceptance. There's another, and slightly different, attempt for Saturday. Thanks for this challenge - it opened my eyes to a whole other realm of subject matter.
@Weezilou I learned a new word too - and a new photographic subject. Strange but cool. Tombstone will definitely be fun for your hair dresser. Tell here to keep that camera handy at all times!
@pixiemac Thanks so much Sarah - and thanks for not making fun of me for my commitment to the bears. I was talking to a guy the other day that sold a 1912 Steiff through Christies for $7,000. They can be serious business!
