Here's how I imagine this conversation went:
Where's the food guy?
Over There
Where?
There?
No there
Where?
Wait, over there?
Where?
There?
I see him - there?
Where?
...and so on.
Brilliant - both the image and the imaginary conversation.. i think the collective noun for Flamingos suits them so well in this delightful shot.. it is a Flamboyance of flamingos.. and they are flamboyant.. in both their looks and habits too.. who else tips their head upside down to eat/drink or looks so gawky but glares down their nose with a supercilious stare...
i love their rings - other birds have them by their ankle but these show-offs wear them as though they are jewellery, flaunting the colours.. a fab shot of these crazy birds..
A wonderful observation Ron, lovely focus, detail and colour in brilliant light, they always look very regal, elegant, stylish and just a little upper class to me:)
Ha Ha How about this:
There's that dude with the camera, AGAIN
Lets go over and feather him
You do it,
No I did it last time;
No you didn't Fanny did;
Then Its Freddy's turn;
No it's Felicity's
Where's Felicity anyway . . . . .
Amazing colours! I saw some flamingos this week. Took a few pics and I hope to have one or two worth posting. The ones I saw though are so pale compared to these ones that they could be off white!
I am delighted to be partnered with you for this week's get pushed challenge. I really enjoyed cruising through your latest album at all your awesome work.
I noticed that you like to freeze the action in your action shots with a quick shutter speed. I would like to see you break that rule and slow down your shutter speed to make for some action shots that out of the ordinary for you for this week's challenge. Panning, perhaps but not necessarily.
@summerfield Ha, that made me laugh! I was trying to think of something he might be saying, but couldn't come up with anything clever, so just left it. You filled in nicely!
@rookynook OK, I had to admit looking up David Attenborough, and then it dawned on me who he was. Having spent a bit of time living in your fair land, one couldn't possibly escape a quote or two and his inimitable wit. I'm sure he would love such a flock of flamingos. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
@jorlam Well, I have learned something - and that always makes me happy! So a flamboyance is what a group of flamingos is called. Very interesting - and I agree that it's pretty appropriate. Thanks as always for your details and poignant input!
@pcoulson Thanks Peter for the kind words. I agree they have a certain elegance to them - and a somewhat goofy look all at the same time. I do enjoy capturing photos of them - obviously! :-)
@lyndemc You know I actually have a flamboyance of flamingos in my yard (2 in mine, and the back yard). That's probably no surprise to you. They look nothing like these guys, but OK, I'll play along. ;-) Thanks for your comments as always, Denise, and thanks for the suggestion to view on black. That does look pretty cool!
@joannakate Thanks Joanna. Poppo's conversation made me laugh too. Fun with flamingos! FYI, these guys with the orange/red eyes are members of the lesser flamingo breed, native to South Africa. Kind of creepy looking if you ask me.
@vera365 Thanks Vera - we are of the same mind. I always say that flamingos somehow have the ability to look both beautiful and goofy at the same time. Thanks for stopping by!
