Vintage So Cal

It doesn't get much more Southern Californian than this. This is San Clemente beach looking south. Right around the corner of the last palm tree is the old "Western White House" where Richard Nixon used to escape to when he needed a break from Washington. Pops on black.
Beautiful Capture!

This could be a travel poster for So Cal, fabulous. I loved touring Truman’s summer White House in Key West. Would love to see Nixon’s!

@pcoulson Thanks very much Peter. Yeah, that song lies. We get plenty of rain in California, especially this time of year. It held off that day, but we're looking at a little drizzle tomorrow. I know, we're very spoiled.

@onewing Thanks Babs, it's one of my favorite parts of Southern Californina.

@louannwarren I appreciate the kind comments Lou Ann. Nixon's place has never been available for tourists like Truman's. It was bought and moved into after he passed by the CEO of Allergan, but I hear it's up for sale now - again. For a mere $63.5 million it can be yours!

@stray_shooter That’s a shame really. Of course I’m a history nut so it may only be a shame to me. Ha!

Haven't been to San Clemente beach in so long. Really need to visit again. Such a great shot of the beach and all those palm trees. Looks like one of them is standing much taller than the others!

This is so spot-on perfect and beautiful! It IS the way we think upon the idyllic California of yesteryear!
