Random shot on my way home tonight, was a very quiet day on the photography front!
These seats always catch my attention so thought i'd finally take a snap of them. No idea if this works, I think there're was more potential than I've captured here though. Any critique is welcome!
Couldn't think of a title for this shot (suggestions welcome!)
Love these little mushroom seats, would never have guessed they were seats! I'm hopeless with titles so if nothing comes to mind I usually just end up calling it what it is! Isn't that what quite a few of the most renowned artists do - Sunflowers!!!!!!! With regard to critique would something with a shallower dof and emphasis on just one of the seats work as an option?
Great shot- those seats are so interesting to look at. I agree with Paula about focusing on one of the seats but still a fabulous shot. I have the same problem with titles sometimes, this ones got me stumped!
Interesting photo. they look like mushrooms. Magic mushrooms maybe!
Paula has a good point. This shot has your eye darting all over the picture instead of being focused on one spot or being drawn into a central area. You don't get the sense of size either, Someone sitting on the seats would show that maybe. How big are they?
Never ask me about an abstract or semi abstract cuz I see things that aren't there...to me they'd are the tips of some fashionable lipstick tubes.
I need to disagree with the above comments of focus. To me, if the subject matter was totally obvious, then there should be a blur. But as we have no idea that these were seats, you needed to give us that extra bit more. Hmmm...did I explained right. If this was a couch, obviously a couch....yes blur all rest around it, but these mushroom lipsticks, needed the extra architecture essence. You done right and good in my humble opinion
What a great space! I could sit and feel the immense sense of space and just drink it all in. Great angle, love your composition and I feel that having everything in focus is just right...why blur that beautiful steel and wood and tile!!??
@derekvickers@joysfocus@paulaw@hettie@joeyc@custodiabaptista@tillycarter@onewing@gigiz@kazlamont Thanks everyone for the comments and feedback, exactly the sort of constructive advice I was looking for, welcome all such comments like this. Interesting how the debate is totally split on whether or not the focus should be on one or all of the seats, I actually prefer the wider focus as I like the neat feeling of the zen like space, some how calming, but I will have to go back and try the opposite approach at some stage and will repost my effort to see if that works too. Thank you all again for the comments and feedback, keep em coming! Most appreciated!
Very interesting sculptures. Great shot Ian!
