I started my photo-a-day project on September 6th, 2004 on livejournal, transferred it here around 2011. All photos were taken on the day they're posted...
I would be a bit frightened to do that, i'm very cautious of ruining the thread. I picked a hand grip up for £5 including postage and its very comfortable and looks great. I am and will be doing more DIY when I get the time but £5 for a hand grip is nothing. So far I have kept my entire kit under £500 and am not looking to let that figure double for at least a couple of years If ever!
