This Sigma 50mm f/1.4 is my most used lens, and I'm thinking about selling within the next few months. I really want to get the updated Sigma 50mm f/1.4 art series lens.
I started my photo-a-day project on September 6th, 2004 on livejournal, transferred it here around 2011. All photos were taken on the day they're posted...
It's a fine prime for your FX D800. I wouldn't bother with a replacement, perhaps invest in a totally different lens. The Sigma f/2.8 105 macro is as fine as the equivalent Nikkor. The 12-24 wide angle Sigma is another nice one.
@frankhymus - I have the Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Di macro, which is pretty dang sharp. If I were to replace that one, I'd go with a 150mm macro to get a little more working room for lighting.
I do have the 12-24 sigma (the verion older than current) It's really fun, but you really have to stop down to F8 to control light fall-off and get the corners somewhat sharp. But 12mm full frame is quite wide.
The other one I'm thinking about picking up would be the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 art lens. My cousin has it and it's an awesome lens.
I've got a couple months to think about it.
