Dung Beetle by suez1e

Dung Beetle

He wasn't welcome but I did find him in my backyard. Thankfully he was dead,
A superb macro of a very important creature!
Do you realize how knee deep we would be in Sh*t if if weren't for these guys?

How big is he? The ones in our area are fairly small..

Hi! I am so sorry! I am so late on the Get Pushed challenge! If it is not too late, can you do a blue hour photo (right after sunset or before sunrise?) If this is not possible, you could do a photo of a strong pattern in nature.

@farmreporter It is 2.5 cm long and 2 cm high, bigger than I thought most dung beetles were. This is the first one I've seen and was happy it was dead and the photo is only the shell. I appreciate the valuable part they play in dealing with shit but have no idea why it would be on my urban property which as far as I know has no shit on it. I'm guessing they can fly

@vera365 The blue hour concept is new to me and I'd love to produce a photo meeting the challenge. If the weather or life doesn't give me the opportunity I'll do the nature pattern

Cool close up and I also understand their purpose but a tiny bit squeamish none the less.
