Eggs

Queensland’s Bush Stone Curlew eggs. Couldn’t get any closer mum or dad was nearby watching me. Last week both mum and dad attacked Maisie and I, I thought there must have been a nest near by.
What a great find. Sweet little spotted eggs! Hope Maisie was okay. =)

I had to do some internet research to identify this bird. It seems to be a rather large bird. It's amazing that their nest is just on the ground.

@marlboromaam Maisie has mellowed in her old age, that and I always say it’s okay leave the birdies, ducks or bush turkeys. We have a bush turkey nest at the park next door so Maisie is used to seeing ground dwelling birds. I was worried they might get too close, that would be a problem for the bird. Maisie is okay with them being a few feet away.

@sugarmuser Glad she didn't get an eye pecked. The bully birds (mocking birds) around here have been known to go for a dogs eyes if they get too close to a nest. Will is never outside unless he's on the leash with me and I am more watchful for snakes than birds. He has to stick his nose in everything! LOL!

Interesting spot. Not really like our curlews who I can't imagine going for a dog 🤣
