today is canada day (or confederation day for those who are history sticklers).
partner drove me yesterday to this moose which he said has been in this location for forever and that it's dressed up to whatever is the occasion. he forgot to drive me there in may for mother's day and victoria day as well as for father's day. but he was so taken by this canada day decor that he wanted me to post it in my album.
there was a time in the beginning of the century when toronto became an art moose-um when it had an outdoor art exhibit of about 300 plus moose statues. everywhere you turn, there was a statue of a moose. they were theme-decorated to identify the businesses that owned or sponsored them. i had seen one by a bridal boutique and the poor moose was dressed in an elegant bridal gown (made especially for a moose, of course!). it was fun to see, depending of course on one's perspective, and truly there was a lot of criticism. but critics be damned, the citizenship of toronto liked the idea and embraced it with gusto. see http://www.toronto.ca/moose/home_revisit.htm
so for this week, this moose is riding on his very own venicle, bedecked in red and canadian flags, and in conjunction with pride week, it is wearing a fancy pair of sunnies!

partner and i are driving down somewhere (it's supposed to be a surprise for me) so i won't be on the computer much (maybe) today and tomorrow. i shall catch up (again!) with you when we're back.
I was just asking my husband what happened to all the moose in downtown TO! Did they all move on, did Mel Lastman take them all to his cottage? Hmmmm. ;-) Happy holiday - woke up early and will be going to the cottage in a bit.
