this is a bunch of lavender flowers my officemate gave me; she grows them in her garden. this photo isn't processed. it is an actual shot. as i press on the shutter, i move the camera in a circle and i get this effect. kinda like a vertigo.
this is how everything looks like to me when i'm suffering from vertigo. everything spins, and it makes my legs feel like noodles. when i try to walk, i'm like a lizard on a wall, desperately clinging so i would not fall.
when i lie down, it feels like i am in a get-away elevator that is fast falling down, only it's going down in a bottomless pit. i pray that maybe the elevator will hit ground and it will explode and i won't feel anything anymore. when i close my eyes, i feel like i'm going to throw up. so i get up but everything spins like crazy.
when i try to throw up, nothing comes out and it feels like my ear drums would burst, my eyeballs would fall off their sockets and my head would explode. it is the worst feeling.
but i found out that if i force myself to throw up, the spinning lessens. so i continue until i can control my movement again, teeter around and try to find a comfortable position, mostly sitting in an upright position and i try to move my head slowly.
i don't know what triggers it. i was told stress - but i've been stressed since i was a child; lack of sleep - but i suffer from insomnia of course i lack sleep. one doctor told me it's the alignment of my jaw and i should see my dentist.
my naturopath doctor best explained it to me: our inner ears are lined up with little hairs that flow in a certain direction. if this flow is interrupted, say i bend down for too long a time, then it affects my equilibrium.
what's the cure? nothing, but if i stay healthy then the attacks would be less or infrequent. how to stay healthy? exercise. check. diet. what do you mean diet? i don't eat meat already and i can't have ice cream, what else do i diet from? chocolate. now, that is just being mean!
Interesting photo Vicki and I sure wish that a cure could be found. I ahve heard that there is a special balance clinic for people affected with inner ear problems
What a gorgeous capture ... almost gives me vertigo looking at it!! lol Not funny tho as I suffer from it too. It's the worst feeling ever. Laying down is awful ... the bed spins, the room goes round. And getting up it's the same. One doctor told me that it's a fluid in the ear canal that gets out of whack ... but, you're right. Meds don't help. Stress can trigger it, I believe. I haven't experienced it for awhile now. I feel for you, summerfield. Now we have something else in common, but who wants to be in that "club!"
do you get any tingling - most people notice it in their face, but it could be anywhere on your body, and could be very slight because you may be used to feeling it and have ignored it. probably happen shortly before these incidents or a headache. wonderful photo, really depicts the feeling.
Oh, that is so horrible...I am sorry you have to go through this. I know what you mean by diet..I am gluten free and dairy free...I feel so frustrated a good deal of the time.
how awful! god, I think I just went through all your symptoms with you!
now, dont give up chocolate! no no that will make you worse, cos you will be stressed. poor thing. cool shot.
