at the beaches by summerfield

at the beaches

dear friends,

yesterday, grandmere summerfield and i went to the beaches. we had a long walk because walking eased grandmere's back pain. we went to see the boats at the marina, then we walked down to the beach. there was not a lot of people even though it was hot, but there were a lot of birds and they were all over the sand and the water.

i had a dip in the water and it was fun. the water wasn't very cold which was nice. it was nice to feel the waves. i think i ended up with a little tan. i also saw a big boat. grandmere took a lot of photos of myself on the rocks, on the sand and by the moored boats at the marina. i wanted to show you all my photos but grandmere said i can only post one. maybe next time grandmere will let me post more of my photos.

going home, we walked through the big pond where grandmere and i saw a pair of swans last spring. we went the long route but it was fun because we saw millions and millions of dragonflies.

'oh, my!' said grandmere, "hundreds of evinrudes.'

'grandmere, they're dragonflies, not evinrudes,' i told grandmere.

'but i like to call them evinrudes.'

'why?'

'because that's the name of the little dragonfly in the rescuers, you remember? the one chased by the vampire bats?'

'oh, yes! i love that dragonfly. darren loved evinrude, too!'

'that's right. and maybe darren will come visit this weekend.'

grandmere's eyes became sad but she let out a beautiful smile as we walked home before it got dark. i think i will have to try harder to make grandmere happy while darren is away.

love,
little wahoo

thank you, folks, for your kind views and wonderful comments; little wahoo and i appreciate them.
Well, Little Wahoo, the water looks lovely and it sounds like you had a wonderful time. Little Piggy took a dip today too, but in a very different place- you'll see!

Dear Grandmere Summerfield

Do you think you could show little Wahoo how to make a collage, then he (she?) could post more than one shot? He (she) seems a little sad to have to post only one photo of your fabulous day out together.
Cx

Have to fav too

What a wonderful way to tell a story, you definitely have a way with words. A nice day to be had by the two of you also, that's special. I love the color of the water with a slight wave and the rocks also. A Fav. for me. Glad you had a wonderful time and the collage idea was perfect.

The wonderful time together will forever be remembered - Yes, I like the collage idea! I'm sure she meant you can only post one picture a day of those shots, or maybe it was only one an hour. Lovely shot, even better your memories of time spent.

@myhrhelper - thank you, kathy.

@catsmeowb - thank you, camille. doesn't little wahoo look big in this picture? people don't believe that she is just a little under two inches. i found out, too, when i googled it on the weekend, that she is called a 'puzzle' eraser because she can be taken apart. i think two or three parts. if i have to make a go of this, i need to find someboy who can mould something original for me. or maybe i can just go buy a putty and make one. hehehe!

@catsmeowb - you're so kind, camille. i wish editors are that much more forgiving, or maybe i'm wishing there's not a lot of good writers. thank you, camille. i always enjoy your coming by here.

@alia_801 - thank you, alia. i whip these stories as i go along but i'm very glad that you all get to like it. i should put more thought in writing them.

editors have to be tough, they have to look for every last little thing. not just the story the tense of each word, the how the words are put together, ect. i believe it must be a difficult job to be an editor, giving honest critique without destroying a person's motivation. i know when i taught writing to men in prison, it was very hard. their reaction was 'no re-rewriting' at first. so i read them a passage and took all the detail out of it. every last bit. then re-read it with it added back in - used hunter s thompson - he has loads of detail in his work. i have never once been brave enough to find or submit a piece of my writing, so you deserve so much credit. the only things i have ever had published have been news articles i had to write for my work and something in a book i did as part of class for research. i think about it but never do the approach letter. cluck, cluck, cluck, that's me!
