partner looked at the skies and said there's going to be a lovely sunset. and he was right. we got to the newly discovered lookout point in time to catch this beautiful sunset.
that's one of our dreams, that we would have enough when we're both retired so that we can travel. i should like to go back to europe with him, he's never been to. in fact i think the farthest place he's ever travelled to was the barbados when he was a young father still. i should like to go to greece and have a romantic dinner by the sea, watching beautiful sunsets like this. or swim around the islands. or go to scotland where his ancestors lived and i can lose myself in photographing the beautiful countryside and castles.
but "my" travel dream is to go back to the island of palawan back in the old country, and enjoy a daily life of watching the sunrise, jogging by the shore on low tides, have a breakfast of fresh fruits, jog some more, catch lunch and dinner and let the help prepare them, write overlooking the blue sea, eat lunch, have a nap, write some more, jog some more, watch the sunset, have supper, and have a leisurely walk along the shore before retiring for the night. i'm sure i'll manage the shower somewhere in between. :-)
ahh, thank heavens for wonderful dreams, it's also free!
A shot of a sunset in every continent would be a great retirement plan!! great shot.....I love sunsets no two are ever the same, in fact they can change within a few minutes.
@lesleyallen - "A shot of a sunset in every continent would be a great retirement plan." hmmm...that sounds like a great idea. i should pull out my old photos of sunsets from the places i've been to! thank you, leslie.
the knox clan i think is from ediburgh. partner's mother is a knox and they came to canada in the early 1800's. i've heard of inverness from a long time ago and it's one of the places i should like to visit if and when i do go to scotland. i'll look forward to beautiful photos, leslie!
@peterdegraaff - are you really? i'm jealous! is this going to be your first time to go there? ah, peter, you and your wife will enjoy it immensely, i know. looking forward to great photos from you. thank you, peter.
First time. We will be seeing fabled u der ground river and just hanging at the beach. Hope to get some spectacular sunsets to photograph. If we feel like an excursion may go to El Nido to see islands. We are just looking forward to relaxing and chilling out.
@roth - where is the leslie spit? i shot this from the chester hill look out above the don valley. i think it would have been lovelier sky after we left. i was kicking myself in the rear when i got back to the apartment, looked west of the danforth and the sky was gorgeous as ever. missed opportunity, yet again! thank you, sue.
@summerfield also known as Tommy Thompson park. It is a manmade penninsula that juts 5km out into Lake Ontario in a south west direction. It is a no car zone also, so you either have to walk or bike out but it is well worth the trip. Never heard of the Chester hill lookout...
@roth - never heard of the chester hill lookout either until the other day and we checked it out yesterday morning. will have to try that leslie spit place one day when it's not too cold. thanks!
Dreams keep us going! Travelling is a wonderful experience, everyone should travel as much and as far as possible. I've always wanted to see the aurora borealis and visit Antarctica but, after our last vacation in Japan in winter, realized I can't tolerate the cold. XD Still hope to be able to see humpback whales someday. 8D A beautiful shot, I love the colours and skyline!
yeah... the sunset last night was spectacular... saw it in the rearview mirror as i was driving to one of my kids' hockey games... was driving on the lakeshore and went by the leslie street spit...
this is a spectacular shot... never heard of the chester hill look out... must check it out...
maybe we should all meet up there or at leslie spit one day... @roth
@northy - it was even better about 25 minutes after this shot was taken, but we have left by then. must check where leslie spit is. yeah, a meet up is good. i like that. thank you, kiddo.
Wonderful capture Vikki, love the colors and silhouetted skyline. I always enjoy reading your stories and I hope the both of you will get to do lots of traveling in the near future. I never really cared about it until I got older and now looking back I wish I would of traveled more when I was still living in Europe, but one day I shall go back =)
