"The curfew tolls the knell of parting day,
The lowing herd winds slowly o'er the lea,
The ploughman homeward plods his weary way,
And leaves the world to darkness and to me.
Now fades the glimmering landscape on the sight,
And all the air a solemn stillness holds,
Save where the beetle wheels his droning flight,
And drowsy tinklings lull the distant folds."
- Elegy Written in a Country Church-yard, Thomas Gray
am on the prowl for night shots and this church's windows caught me eye with the way it was lit and bathed in a golden glow. the snow gave the scene a different character for sure. i forgot if it was a presbyterian church or a united church (one or the other). i should start remembering the places i photograph.
shot in colour but came out looking like it's in sepia and i like it. apart from the name tag, this is sooc.
@karenann - thank you so much, KA. you ever drove by a place, the image stuck in your mind and you just have to go back and investigate? this was one of those places. that lighting just pulled me back.
I understand totally ... I'm constantly scouting things out like you. One of these days I'll get off the chair (computer desk) and get some night shots again. My Nikon has put me into a real slump and haven't been motivated at all. No word on it again ...I'm about to jump ship, summerfield. Maybe to Canon.
@karenann - canon's not a bad camera. i'll be getting the T3i on the weekend. just doing some wheeling and dealing as around here there's a price match going on. best buy here has a sale with the lens kit, a bag and an extra battery. i want my dealer to give me the same. and speaking of camera bags, i've spent over 200 now in the search for the perfect camera bag/purse. oy, the perfect one's strap just broke. but all that money and i could've just got me a kelly moore bag. hey, i might have an exhibit in the fall this year. might, that's the operative word. :-) thank you, KA.
Wow ... that's awesome news, summerfield! You're up there with Michael Elliott now, girlfriend. I VERY happy for you ...you rock. So you are really going for the Canon? Why did you pick this (T3i) model? Good reviews? The nikon d7000 has the dust/oil spots and so I was going to get the Nikon d600. BUT it has the same problem. So, I've had it. Will you keep your nikon or trade/sell it? I'm just too stressed to make a decision right now. And then we have the move to Minnesota looming ahead of us. I saw the Kelly Moore bags on site and know a woman who has one. It's a great bag. I just have the standard black bags. Adequate but boring. At this point, I'm not thinking about bags. Just want to get back on track. Thanks for letting me rant. :)
@karenann - it's okay to rant. and please, i am nowhere near where ME is right now. i've been reading reviews about the T3i and i've not read any major problem about it. i will be keeping my nikon. i hate changing lenses as doing so most times, i miss out on a shot so i get panicky and tense and tjat affects my perspective and point of view. when i'm tired of this hobby, i have nephews and nieces who would do a rock-paper-scissors to get the cameras. hahaha! when's the move going to happen?
