show off

partner drove me to the pond this morning. we wanted to see if "our" pair of swans were back and they were. there was a group of children who were feeding them, as well as a group of ducks trying to divert their attention so they, the ducks, could get to the crumbs.

this one saw me sat down on the boarwalk's edge. it swam towards me and i said "hi" when it was right in front of me and suddently it spread out its wings. i was surprised because it was too near and i hadn't quite adjusted my focus. so glad it turned out well though. after this and the next shot it sort of swam about before it went back to its partner.

@myhrhelper - hahaha! i almost did! thank you, KB.

@pamfromcalgary - thank you, pam. i was really surprised, too. the other people who were there ahead of us said i'm probably an animal whisperer. i said, yes, i whisper at them and they chase me. because normally these fowls would see me and would just chase me even without provocation.

actually, i didn't crop the photo, this is the whole frame. i was a tad flabbergasted that it showed off as soon as i said "hi, hello there!" but glad i got this. i'd have wanted to zoom it out a bit to get his full wing span but i was a tad slow in adjusting my focus.

@quietpurplehaze - normally, i wouldn't get near these lovely creatures because i always get chased by them. this was really really close, you can imagine. thank you, hazel.

@jannkc - this one was quite a show off. there was a man who came just before we left and he had a big muscled camera. the swans swam underneath the boardwalk and hid. tee-hee! thank you, jann.
