for the may birthday celebrants, lily-of-the-valley is their birth flower.
when partner and i lived in the farm several years back, the farmhouse was surrounded by these flowers. in february the whole place teemed with yellow and purple crocuses, but in may, these little plants dominate the yards. i remember one year, i would bring to the office a bunch of them and gave them to some of the girls, they thought we had a farm just for lily-of-the-valley. when partner's mother was put in a home, i would bring her a vase full of these flowers. she had actually planted the backyard with lily-of-the-valley that she found in another farm and they just multiplied every year. she was amused that when she visited her house, even the washroom counter and windows had small arrangements of these flowers.
i love these flowers, for their sheer beauty and their subtle yet reassuring fragrance. if you're a may baby, this post is for you.
Love the delicate nature of these flowers. They have such a wonderful scent. Unfortunately the very hot, dry weather conditions we have is not good for growing these lovelies!
so pretty! love this and love the way they smell. my first perfume as a child. oh, also meant to say i liked your other shot of the dog, too. both are fantastic.
