gumamela

or hibiscus, if you will.

behind our family house, after the banana plants had long gone, our property had always been fenced from the neighbour's by large hibiscus shrubs. they flowered all year round and i remember one plant bore light pink flowers and the rest had bright orangey-red ones.

as children, we used to play with them. the leaves were pretend fishes and the flowers's petals were pretend meat. the problem we always encountered was the nasty big red ants that when bitten, you can actually have a reaction. when we behaved badly, the older folks would threaten us with "i'll have you tied up next to that hibiscus plant!" and it's enough to make us behave. and then of course there was the occasional snake, yes, the poisonous kind.

if i were to be re-born as a plant, i want to be a hibiscus!

thank you for visiting and commenting; i appreciate your kind gesture.
Oooh lovely, the petals look like a swinging skirt, so so beautiful.

So gorgeous. Love the pov and the colour.. I have a pink one growing in the garden, it's supposed to be a double but it gets confused at times!
