it looks like she's flipping the bird but no, she's not. i was going to clone her hand so that that finger doesn't stand out; despite the yellow killer shoes, my eyes keep coming back to her hand.
a rare moment when the kid isn't smiling. i like this photo a lot, do you?
Love the B&W and the finger makes you wonder why she is almost flipping the finger, and also it may have been nice to see where the shot has been taken then, you might be able to understand why? As for the colour pop brilliant as it would have been just another portrait shot. Still a good portrait though, don't get me wrong.
Probably wouldn't have noticed the finger or thought she was flipping the bird until you said it, now of course I can't "unsee" it, but it kind of goes with her expression and the monochrome/selective coloring. Those shoes are da'bomb!
Were the shoes really yellow? For some reason I want to see them in red. I guess because she looks very powerful in that pose, and black, white and red are power colors. The b/w is excellent. Her posture is a little slouched, but it doesn't hurt the picture. I think I would have placed her hand so that it was on top of her knee and not sticking out- I do find the gesture slightly distracting (even though I know she's not doing that!). I think what I like the most is that it reminds me of those dramatic poses actresses like Greta Garbo and Katherine Hepburn were so famous for. Very classy!
Yes I do too. I love that its in blank and white and touch of yellow with the shoes. I don't know how the young generation wear them, I've resorted to flats. Hang in there you will get inspired very soon. Great capture.
i think this is a fab photo... i prolly wouldn't have done the SC - but that's just me... i also prolly wouldn't have noticed her finger had you not mentioned it... but to the degree that it is there, i think it adds attitude and i take no issue with that!
the shoes are definitely killer kewl - but what i really find most interesting about this shot is her gaze... that and her stance (slouch and hands) make me want to know what she's looking at and what she's thinking :)
I am torn about the SC...it could be good both ways. She has that 'smoking a cig" pose, but no cig. Interesting. I think it is a great portrait and I did not noticed 'The finger" ...that is just you seeing that over and over.
she has a bandage on that finger and it really hurts! Thats why you hold the finger out like that - you don't want to let anything touch it! Love the SC - very clever choice!
