year 1400 or 1980 by summerfield

year 1400 or 1980

the colours of this middle eastern country's flag are red, white and green, with its national emblem of two crossed swords and a khanja, the traditional curved dagger, as shown in the coin above.

the coin was a 1980 issue which is year 1440 in the islamic calendar. having lived for almost three years in the middle east, i can still read numbers in arabic. that's the first thing you would learn to read because all their currencies are not in english.

thank you for your kind visits and comments; i do value and appreciate them all.
Gosh, I don't know but you have some really cool stuff. Thanks for sharing and giving some background information. I find it really

Now you have sent me on a voyage of discovery - I've been to Egypt, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Algeria and Tunisia and I think I've ended up in Oman!

Nice shot! You're definitely an expert when it comes to making flags :) After some searching I have learned that the khanja(r) is a traditional dagger from Oman :)
