for this week's get pushed, my partner livvy's @livvy challenge was 'weather'. i thought it would be a good idea to give her an example of our weather here in toronto for the last two days.
the left photo was taken at 12:43 yesterday afternoon. the temperature was -18 degrees celcius, there was just a whiff of clouds but otherwise bright and sunny. of course, after an hour, that changed to strong winds and grey clouds. here you can see the horizon.
the picture on the right was taken just after the noon hour today, there was a mix of mist and flurries (light snow) and the temperature was -10 degrees celcius. there was a heavy grey cloud above the lake and the city. the horizon is barely discernible in this photo.
as an aside there was a ferry that got stranded on the icy waters last sunday morning. we saw it from the highway. of course last sunday it was the coldest day of the winter with a temperature of -24 degrees celcius and factoring in the wind chill, the effective temperature was -41 degrees. yup! doomsday cold, that's what i call it.
this is the view that my boss always ignores while on the other hand my storage drive is full of photos of this view depicting it in different weather conditions. the coloration is due to the glass window's gold leaf colouring; i had to use a polarizer to get as much of the natural colours outside.
this is also for the new technique challenge which is diptych.
@whimsicalgrateful - the lens just make a loud whirling sound like it's going to kill me any minute. the camera would fog up if you don't cover it well when you go inside where there's warmth. so i always have a thermal bag with me. i put it there just before i go back in the building or the car and sits there until i'm confident it won't fog up when i take it out. thank you, marta.
The wind is howling outside, these pictures are of days who's temperatures are beyond my comprehension, and I'm sitting at the dining room table typing on my laptop. Why am I not sitting in front of the woodstove?! Nice diptych.
