i have to do some reading for an essay i need to write for a newsletter. deadline: monday. but real life happens and sometimes things just plain do not cooperate. and also i am reading this series of books by elena ferrante, her "neapolitan series" of novels - i am already on the fourth book and i couldn't stop reading, and i know i'd be so lost after i'm done reading it because i would want more. that's the downside. the upside is i have a rough draft that i can now start with and the novels proved to be useful because there are some passages that i could quote.
when a book grabs me, i can read for hours. why, i've missed my subway stop a couple of times in the last two weeks just reading. at last i have a good use for the tablet i carry everyday. but a real book is still my cup of tea. it relaxes me and i could get lost in what i'm reading most of the time.
for five plus two's "relax" theme this week. tomorrow's supposed to be a scorcher. the reference library sounds like a place to go instead of the beaches.
This is a terrific composition for both challenges. I'm especially interested in the book "the waning of the middle ages" since I seem to be at that point in my life! (;
Wonderful processing Vikki, and I agree that a real book beats any tablet any day! Love that you missed your stop a couple of times simply for being so absorbed :) although I'm sure it was a pain to try and get to work / home after that!!
A neat expressive shot. A strategic placement of the camera and no incriminating evidence on the laptop. Nice job! And I'm with you on the "get lost in reading" thing. I've been on 15 hour flights where I'm sadly wishing sometimes that it might be a little longer so I can get a little more reading in. That's just sick.
