chess

dared to walk outside at lunchtime in 30 celcius temps with 94% humidity - soooo unpleasant i got a headache afterwards.

my feet brought me to the grounds of the metropolitan united church where there's always a chess match by the churchyards. today there was only this pair and no spectators. normally these guys would have a gazillion people watching them lose and/or win. when i went past them, there was only a couple of spectators but promptly left. the shirtless person caught my attention because at first i thought it was a topless woman: the man had breasts.

these guys don't like their photos taken. they're weary of people with cameras. i took this from across the street, busy with the lunch hour traffic, both vehicles and human. after i've taken a couple of photos, a homeless man brushed past me telling me to be careful as that shirtless guy would chase me and beat me up if he saw me taking his picture. then he crossed the street towards the chess players. i quickly entered one of the office buildings and ended up in the subway station. better safe than sorry.

kept it in colour, the black and white felt flat!

here's chess by rivers cuomo of the group weezer
Very nice candid street capture. Interesting that you got them totally alone. I still find it very difficult to point my camera at people on the street.

You brave lady, both for taking this shot and being out in the excessive heat.

Such concentration, the shirtless man looks like out of moves.

That is some serious concentration going on there. I can't imagine sitting out in that kind of heat and playing chess, or taking photos. Glad you kept safe and I like it in color

So glad you lived to tell us about this. That guy's got some ugly saggy man boobs.
