the St. Lawrence Hall building on king street east in downtown toronto is the first social and cultural centre created for the City of Toronto. built in 1850, it is a premiere 19th century building and has been designated as a national historic site by the Government of Canada. its delicately etched stonework, ornately detailed roof cresting and the beacon of the domed cupola are dramatically juxtaposed amongst an urban landscape of skyscrapers and highrises around its vicinity.
