hockey hall of fame, toronto by summerfield

hockey hall of fame, toronto

today's one night stand challenge is architectural photography.

here is part of the pediment and entablature of the façade of the "hockey hall of fame" in toronto. (for a full shot of the building, you may view here, if you are so inclined: http://365project.org/summerfield/365/2011-01-21 obviously taken when i first joined the 365 project.) quite lovely against that beautiful blue sky, isn't it? we had beautiful weather yesterday and today but tomorrow will be another story altogether.

i can say i am one of the few people in toronto who wasn't happy with the announcement that the hockey league will be playing soon. as much as i love this architectural sort-of masterpiece, i can and am not afraid to say i hate hockey! so now, there goes my probable night photo opps. the partner, you see, is a big toronto maple leaf hockey fan. and i was glad football was almost over. [snicker!]

thank you for your kind views and comments. much appreciated, folks.
Nice pov on this and the sky is so blue. Funny story about hockey :)

Football widows, hockey widows- not much difference I suppose! Good shot- great blue!

you don't like hockey? for shame! well - much as i love hockey, NHL games are stupidly overpriced... go see an OHL game... fraction of the cost - you can get seats really close up (watch the players get squished against the boards up close and personal-like) and they play just as great hockey if not better... football? not so much... then again, with all the boys engrossed on spectator sports, i am free to roam about on my own as i wish so i find it all quite liberating ;p

nice one for the one night stand!

@tara11 - thank you, tara. glad i could entertain you. :-)

@olivetreeann - basketball, golf and baseball widows. when there was no hockey, it was "honey, what time do you want to go for your night shots?" or "i'm taking your tripod so you have it handy." now, it's "i have to watch my football." but sulks when i go on my own. i knew last month was a fluke! :-) thank you, ann.

@northy - no, i hate hockey. everytime i look at a hockey game, all i see are stupid men tyring to kill each other with people around them just looking and there's always blood. it's not a very civil sport, i tell yah! he got me into baseball already that's about enough. now figure skating, we're talking. :-D thank you, kiddo.

@catsmeowb - thank you, camille. is the back any better?

Well yeeeeesh! He can't have it both ways! I actually think my hubby is glad when I get out from underfoot and go off on my own... Of course, I do have to carry my own tripod ;)

Beautiful building. The lettering is so sharp and I love the soft color and detail also.

Gorgeous against that awesome blue!

This is a good perspective to show the detail against the sky, but I am sorry to say, I grew up with a Canadian League Hockey team as the only pro sport anywhere around, so i cheered at many a game in Billings, Montana and adore Hockey.

Grand showing of shadows and hues, you really captured the feel of a winter day with the stone, the light and the sky.
