i'm a-chokin' and runnin' out of ideas for the sooc challenge! i'm blaming it on the stupid weather. we are expecting snow on the weekend. i'm pretty sure we are being punished or made to pay for that nice weather from last year. argh!
on the other hand, i'm getting to know the canon, or how to use this camera. like if i lower the exposure bias (whatever that is) i get a low key, although i stil have to turn on most of the lights in the room. this here, i have the normal ceiling light; if i didn't manipulate the exposure the whole baseball would've been like a moon floating in the dark sky.
a few years ago, partner and i went to see a baseball game and he promised he'd catch a fly ball for me. he caught this bare handed. that dark spot is where the batter's bat had hit it.
@losthorizon - thank you, beau. but it's too low key. i had to move the screen so i could see the ball so i will be revisiting this definitely. the game was between the toronto blue jays and the baltimore orioles and the hitter was Homer Bush, a lesser known blue jay player but had a decent record. and that's according to partner who is so fanatic about "his" blue jays.
i think it needs a smidgeon more light... but really it's incredibly effective as is... especially if viewed large... this is where you can play with exposure... do you have a tripod or something you can steady the camera on? put it on manual, compose the shot and focus, and then lock the focus (switch to manual), and figure out what light you want... then shoot at different shutter speeds to see what looks best... you can also use the live view function to see on the lcd screen what the image will look like given your light and set shutterspeed (sorry if you know all that stuff - which you probably do!)
Wow that's so low key I can barely see the baseball unless I enlarge it. Now that I've seen the high key version- that's the one I prefer but this is good too.
