this is malcolm, one of the servers at the office summer social this afternoon. i noticed some of the young girls eyeing him and they were quite surprised when i showed them this photograph and they shrieked in unison as they couldn't believe it!
he asked if i was a professional photographer and i chuckled as i told him i wasn't. and that's when i asked if i could take a photo of him and he obliged.
-o0o-
so i played photog at the office luau this afternoon. i'm still sorting out the photos and i will give most of it probably to the office for publication in our newsletter.
also, i ordered a tamron 18-200mm lens from amazon which surprisingly arrived yesterday so i got the chance to use it at the function. i like it! i like it a lot! it will be a good walk-around lens, especially that i intend to go on a tour of the tall ships tomorrow or the weekend.
i'm playing catch up once again with your albums. in less than two weeks i turn 60 and i'm feeling so pressed for time, like there's a need to finish a lot of things soon.
@ness50 - thank you, Vanessa. he's a very polite young man, too.
@bkbinthecity - thank you, brian. trying to get ahead on that 100 strangers project. the way i'm going might take me years to finish it. that's a lot of years on 365!
@salza - i'm loving my new lens, sally. i got it off amazon.ca it was on sale and i couldn't pass it up. i've been looking to get one anyway (and was considering a sigma for just under 500 and i was holding off until it's on sale but then i saw) - the camera bag is getting heavier, my shoulders and neck have been complaining and i'm not quite adept at changing lenses on the spot. there's a bit of distortion when you zoom it at its widest angle but I don't always take a wide shot. thank you, sally.
@catsmeowb - you know when he told me his name i thought about you so i had to ask him a second time just to confirm i heard it right. got two shots off him, readily took my the small card i give out thanking him for the opportunity, said he'd e-mail me because he wanted a copy, such a polite kid, makes me wish i had a daughter i could match him with. :-) and yes, those eyes are gorgeous, aren't they? thank you, camille.
@dmortega - thank you, dorrena. sometimes it comes easy, sometimes not. but i also believe if you don't ask, you will never know if they will say yes or no.
you got a wonderful smile out of him, and a twinkle in his eye... good for you for doing the strangers project... one of these days i need to knuckle down and do it...
What a handsome fellow! The camera loves him! Congratulations on the new lens! I have been hoping to renew my passport so we could meet. It's going to cost a hefty chunk and I spent all my cleaning money on a laptop I can't seem to figure out! Life has been slightly frustrating!! I'm hoping to do that asap, but if worse comes to worse and we meet at Niagra, would it be too difficult for you to come over to the American side? I know there is not as much to do there- but I may be in Batavia in a few weeks after grandchild #5 makes his entrance into this world. I will keep you posted on the plans as they unfold.
