i was in the car waiting for partner to come back from picking up his dry cleaning across the street. first time i didn't have my camera with me, my purse and all such. i only have my little canon. it was like quitting cold turkey. i see all these interesting characters passing by me and i'm not shooting them. finally, i had enough. the little canon was once a faithful companion, surely it could still do a good job. and a good job it did.
this is one of the most unglamorous shots i've ever taken. well, come to think of it, smoking was and is never glamorous! unless you're audrey hepburn of course in "breakfast at tiffany's". but this is the most interesting shot i got today.
thank you for your kind views and comments; know that they are truly appreciated.
I am glad you had your Canon with you! Photography is an addictive pursuit, and being without a camera surrounded by things to photograph can be really painful! BTW, we have been watching Mad Men on AMC, and it still amazes me how people used to smoke anytime, anywhere, even when pregnant or sick!
@jayberg - thank you. she probably wouldn't care. :-)
@panthora - addictive is the word! thank you, osia.
@maggiemae - this is the camera that made me pay attention to the craft. yes, it does have manual settings and it has stayed on manual for a long time now. thank you, maggiemae.
@bkbinthecity - yes, it never gave me any problem. thank you, brian.
sometimes a unglamorous shot is necessary! like Osia, i shook my head in disbelief as i watched Mad Men. i lived through that era, but i guess i was oblivious. my dad smoked, my mom didn't.
