remember this shot of the lake http://365project.org/summerfield/365-still/2013-12-17 when it was near frozen in december? with more snow being dumped on toronto, parts of lake ontario has frozen up. the dark line cutting across the middle right of the photo is the ridge they had to dig for the ferry's route. meanwhile, the ice is thick enough for some people to snow board and fly kites. there were at least three brave souls doing so. the dark speckles you see above the thick smoke are the kites. it is cloudy, otherwise, you'd see the faint skylines of rochester, new york in the background.
first day at work today; i did fine methinks and didn't even feel any sleepiness. it's the meals that's throwing me off. eating lunch felt strange as that would be the time we're going to bed and my body refused to eat a heavy meal. also, it's unbelievable that a week ago i was wearing sandals and today i wore heavy snow boots. i quite enjoyed walking in the thick snow though.
thank you for your kind visits and comments; i really really appreciate them.
Cool photo, Vicki! I like this b and w shot of this even better than that first version of it you linked here. They cut a crack for the ferry to go through, but the ice is so thick people can get on it? that is so weird to my southern mind. We have to teach the kids "do not get on ice" no matter what! They see it on TV, try it here in the south, and at times, fall in and bad things happen. We had a teen drown doing that during that first snow fall/winter storm we had a few weeks ago. So sad. The other teens fell through, but got out. He did not.
Anyway, I am sure you are freaking out in a way....what a change from warmth and different time zone to cold and a new time zone.
So this is quite close to New York! Amazing weather to have here but it provides good photo opportunities and sport! The kites are so small so you are so high!
It must be hard to go from the tropics back to the deep freeze! At least you have variety in weather. Do people snow board and fly kites at the same time?
