this is a spoof of the rené magritte painting "the son of man". it's hard to make the apple hover over plus i didn't have an apple. i do have a green pear but...
i'm still in rut as the weather is still not to my liking, although the trees have started to show visible signs of life, albeit so minutely. the bowler hat was collecting dust in the corner so i thought for the week, i would try to rock the darn thing - yes, seven days of the bowler hat, not necessarily on my head. nor other body parts, mais non!
so this morning, the florist guy called me as i passed by and asked where my camera was. they normally see me passing by holding my camera. we talked for a bit and then i saw this fake peony flower and asked how much it was. i explained to him that i plan to do a spoof of the magritte painting. so i got the flower for $2. he said he wanted to see a copy.
lots of cloning happening in there. i had to take off the flower from the plastic stem, propped it with a long stick then cloned off the stick.
so, what'd ya think?
thank you for your kind visits and comments; know that they are truly appreciated.
fav! i totally think this works - love the take on Magritte's painting (one of my favs btw)... the glint in your eye peaking thru the bouquet is superb!
ok - so i just want to check on this... you do know the connection between the song you've quoted in the last two shots and this image, right? (one of my all time favourite escapist movies)
@northy - the windmills of your mind is my favourite song in the whole universe. i knew the painting 'son of man' since before the first thomas crown affair movie because i remember my grand uncle had a big replica in his house and it used to scare the shit out of me with the man's eye peeking out from behind the apple. but of course i didn't know whose work it was then.
i love magritte ever since i've listened to paul simon's song "rené and georgette magritte and their dog after the war". but i do remember the "ceci n'est pas une pipe" series as i've seen an exhibit somewhere in luxembourg when i used to live there.
the last few days, every time i see the darn bowler hat i remember that gallery scene in the remake with pierce brosnan. surprisingly, i kinda like sting's take on the song in that movie (i should look for it on youtube). and somewhere in youtubeland is a video of me singing the song karaoke style. that you do not want to find. :-)
thank you for the fav, my good friend, 'tis an honour.
