i think i might have mentioned previously that i used to make crafts and i also got into cross stitching. but like the carpenter whose house is about to fall down and the car mechanic who drives a run-down car, i only have a handful of my handiwork. i had a lot of cross stitched projects, both big complicated ones, and small simple projects. most were given away as gifts, but several ones were 'commissioned' and/or sold. this poppy project was one of the earlier ones i made and i specifically made it for myself. i had it framed and is now hanging in my bedroom. the pattern is from an australian magazine. for the most part, i made this whilst riding the subway train during hot summer nights in toronto and that was how i was able to get orders or sold my projects.
for the weekly theme homemade stuff and i'm posting it sooc for the one night stand challenge.
It's pretty! When did you make it? My mom did crewel, needlepoint, cross stitch..she did a piano bench with instruments, and lots of school house and teacher type ones...I treasure them!
@espyetta - probably around 1994 just a year after i learned how to cross stitch. i can't say it was hardwork because i enjoyed doing every project, even when i was crunched for time because there were too many orders. but like everything else in my life my interest tapered off. thank you, MB. i hope you don't mind if i don't go to your album, the spider/fly photos just gross me out!! :-)
Very pretty! I never did the counted ones- only a couple with the picture already printed and numbers telling you which thread to use. Most of them were baby gifts.
@myhrhelper - hello, girlfriend! long time no see, hear, talk! thank you for coming by.
