in greek mythology, the fates have the subtle but awesome power of deciding a man's destiny. they assign a man to good or evil. their most obvious choice is choosing how long a man lives. there are three fates. clotho, the spinner, who spins the thread of life. lachesis, the measurer, who chooses the lot in life one will have and measures off how long it is to be. atropos, she who cannot be turned, who at death, with her shears, cuts the thread of life.
for the five plus two theme this week, mythological.
thank you for your kind views and comments; know that they are truly appreciated.
we have unexpected visitors from out of town who are arriving tomorrow morning so i will yet again be awol but will try to comment as much as i can.
Wonderfully done!! I love mythology, and you have done such a great job of showing the somber task of measuring the lives of people. I would love to see someone do an interpretation of the Procrustean bed... ;-)
@panthora - thank you, osia. i won't be surprised if someone comes up with that; i think i might be able to do it but as i said i will be quite busy to do any set up. this one alone i almost lost my hair! :-)
@annied - thank you, annie. i'm laughing here by myself, i had been staring at your post for so long, admiring it and the concept you came up with, and there you were commenting on mine. if i had just a tiny bit of photoshop skills i'd have presented this better, but alas i don't, coupled with the fact that i'm in a rush to finish up things as we're expecting company.
you needn't bemoan your lack of photoshop skills, this looks wonderful
