obi by summerfield

obi

no, not obi wan kenobi. just "obi".

obi is a broad sash worn around the waist of a japanese kimono (robe). i can't take out my kimono which is a robe that's kind of too difficult to wear because it's just too difficult to deal with. :-) plus it's in a big box that is sealed and i'm lazy to take it out to wear it just to photograph the obi. so the next best thing is my silk robe which is a lot more handy as it's just in my drawer getting all wrinkled, with its special sash.

until ten years ago, i'm all silk robe and silk pyjamas or nighties. but as i am growing older i favour the over sized cotton t-shirts and loose cotton capri pants and the robe has been replaced by a cotton robe. but they're still white or pastel and with the least bit prints or design! in fact i've given away all my nice robes and pyjamas except for this one.

thank you for your kind visits and comments; know that they are genuinely appreciated.

now, regarding the theme-ghostly vote. my friend katy's @grammyn ghostly photo is in the top five for the theme. i don't usually ask or solicit votes but i promised - more like i threatened her - that if her photo makes it to the top five, mary beth daley @espyetta and i will campaign for votes. so may i shamelessly ask your indulgence to please vote for katy's photo which is #2 and to make it easier for you, you may click on this link: http://365project.org/blog/theme-vote-ghostly but of course, vote only if you think it should win.

thank you, kind folks!
Wonderful SC!

It's one thing to make a list of "o" words and another to find and execute the photo! You've done an amazing job! The kimono and obi are lovely...when we've been in Japan, I loved seeing ladies out and wearing their kimono's. What a lot of work goes into that practice, but beautifully worth it!

@Weezilou - thank you, louise. i've just been chastised about "not going the extra mile and open the box and wore the kimono and photograph it because when realistically are you ever going to wear it?" men! one day i am chastised for going overboard for my 365 next day .... aaaargh! but one day, i will post a self-portrait wearing the kimono, make up and all! :-) night-night, good friend. you said you needed to go to bed!

so ..........I am reading all about your silk undies and the obi which you have so cleverly used with SC to highlight it in this wonderful picture, thinking I already know what an obi is because of its frequent use in crossword puzzles, when I get to the bottom and see that I have made it as a finalist in the weekly theme (color me beyond shocked by that!) and that you are shamelessly promoting my photo! ♥♥ LOL! you are too much! I must now go and take a peek!

Love this image too!

Just the place you don't want an O- right around the middle! I could never really wear silk pjs. After the second or third time of wearing them I'd inevitably put a snag in them somewhere. It's the old "you can dress her up but you can't take her out" syndrome! Another good O shot!

I had a good giggle at the first line of your commentary as my very first thought when I saw the word 'obi' was obi wan kenobi! It is a really beautiful kimono.

The silk has a lovely quality to it and the sash is gorgeous! I can see you wearing that round your head?
