perched

during our walk yesterday at the islands, we came upon this group of young people perched on a driftwood by the beach at the foot of the lookout/pier; for a change, as normally that log is always infested with seagulls.

interesting to read the body language of this group. the three girls on the right were all looking at their cellphones. the fourth girl chatted with her boyfriend who had his head on her lap. the girl at the very left is caressing, it seemed absent-mindedly, the shoe of the boy who was prone while looking pensively out into the water. the boy on the shore who in this photo looked like he was coming out of the prone boy's crotch was just throwing rocks at the water. so much possibilities for a story. they are with three other boys who were just carousing around, out of this shot's frame.

what do you think is happening in here?

thank you so much for your kind visits and comments; know that they are truly appreciated.
Love this candid.

Interesting capture. I think the girl on the left is trying to steal the affections of the guy with his head on the other girl's lap.

I think they are all waiting for the Queen Mary to chug along and then they will all board and go to London!

They look to not have a care in the world, quite right too.

I love the "we'll be here for along long time" feel to this; that's a mood I don't seem to feel much anymore -- always rushing from one thing to the next. But I remember it from that age.

Nice colours.

The boy in the crotch forced perspective makes this a very fun catch! What is going on here is a slow decline of social skills as we know them. Someday maybe they will say "I remember when kids used to text instead of…."Whatever the new adolescent social skill will be! I miss the good old days when kids interacted personally.

Having been around quite a few teenagers this is pretty typical. And the funny thing is that the telephone girls will probably talk, then text, then talk, then text, and all the texting will be about what the last person just said. Boys are not into so much texting so they've found other mindless things to do. And this is probably the only place Jr. can put his head in his girlfriend's lap without getting asked not to do it! Life is so hard for a teen- NOT! But boy do they ever think it is! Great candid!!
