'tis the mating season perhaps as the male mallards are all in fighting mood over the female mallards. most of them have their own partners, but those that don't have a partner are trying to woo the females that are already 'taken'. it's quite interesting to see the mating ritual, like this pair here. the female keeps swimming as fast as she could away from him but the stance of the male is just so funny you could see he's really horny and is not taking no for an answer. dirty old bastard!

Ahhh yes...courtship! We've had a lot of that going on right outside our back door! Of late we've daily hosted 4 drakes in the pool as they await news of the births. I suppose they all think themselves the baby daddy...and from what I saw, they could all be right!
