on a dreary day like saturday, when the snow is blowing and the wind is howling mad, at home with a bowl of steaming clam chowder soup (new england style), with the lights turned low and the books are piled beside the rocking chair, who cares about shooting outside? a shot of bailey's and comes the brilliant idea that a false perspective with the fairy lights can be achieved. although it kind of looks like one of those experiments gone wrong in the science lab in high school. ever broke a beaker? i did in my biology class, but i was the student with an almost perfect grade (never mind that i couldn't bring myself to cut the frog open! ewww!) so teacher said 'well, it's part of learning'.
i'm blabbing. let's move on along, shall we?
i am aware that i am late in posting this for the challenge, but i just wanted to play.
Super capture and perfectly placed bokeh. I fail miserably whenever I try these kind of shots. Having looked at your exif, I might just try this again.
@salza - i think the lower number of the f stop (I'm eyeing a sports lens with a fixed f/2.8 but I'm waiting for it to go on sale during the holidays) would produce the perfect bokeh. northy has one in her album for the technique 64, methinks that's the perfect bokeh, but i haven't checked her exif. thank you, my friend.
Lovely! Another thank you to you Vikki, I now do get pushed and have had many shortlisted for voting, all because you got me onto ONS all those months ago. When I grow up I'll be as good as you, northy, bill & co! Have another Baileys on me!!!
@radiogirl - no, if your subject is far enough from the lights, you would always get a round bokeh. the shaped ones i think happens when you use a cut out shape in front of your lens. the secret is to have a really wide aperture. that I'm finding out after 6 years and only understanding just a fraction. :-) thank you, Kathy.
@30pics4jackiesdiamond - don't think it will work, kiddo. she works for the government office that cracks down on corruption and such. but maybe I can persuade her - to partner us up! hehehehe!
Beautiful capture! I wish I could make that happen in reality in my science classes...
In one of our first chemistry uni lab classes someone upset a beaker of alcohol they were heating and set the whole bench alight. Everyone just stood back and said 'Cool!' until one of the lab demonstrators eventually sorted it out. The silliest part is we'd all just done fire-extinguisher training that morning!
Do you use a hole punch to make the bokeh?
