busking on a sunny afternoon by summerfield

busking on a sunny afternoon

i went to the passport office to get my passport renewed and after almost two hundred dollars i still have to pay a twenty-dollar fee just to pick it up instead of them mailing it to me. like what the heck! it means that i won't be able to get out of the country until after june 26 when i pick up the new one. i think i might have to go to chicago depending on my brother's condition. apparently his body is now rejecting the kidney which he received five years ago and he would have to repeat the process of having dialysis everyday.

anyhoo, it was a beautiful sunny day today and when i got out of the passport office, i saw that there was some kind of event across the street. this guy was on a makeshift stage providing the attendees some folk and blues music. it turned out some small breweries banded together and they were celebrating their 30th year. there were games and entertainment. it was a free event and they were giving free beers; i gave mine to one of the security men as i don't drink beer anyway and did a couple of games - toss the ring (did dismally) and target with a water gun (did beautifully but the prize was a huge jug of beer and i had to forego the said prize).

i'm a little bit wary of using my camera these days; after that long bout of vertigo extending well after the weekend, i just have no desire to do anything creative. i took just a few shots of this young man and that was it for me.

i shall try in the next few days to catch up with my album and resume visiting your albums.
Nice candid shot. Sorry to hear about your brother. We will keep him in our prayers

Love this candid, the way the sunlight is shining on him really grabbed my attention. Sorry to hear about yours and your brother's health issues, wishing you both well.

$20 to pick it up? Interesting... I guess proces-wise it us easier to put it in the mail ... sorry to hear about your brother... and your vertigo! hope you're feeling better soon... we ought to get together one of these days... I've had almost no phojo of late and need something to get me going again...

Fabulous image for someone recovering from vertigo. I hope it stays away. Great use of the light for this clear shot. Adding your brother to my daily prayers for you.

@northy - soon, yes! i'm thinking of a drive around the countryside and find some run down mills, silos and barns. but that would take a whole day. would you be up for that? or how about the islands, although I'm not sure if they're letting people in now because of the flooding. at best, we can do another subway hopping and walkabouts!

Great candid photo. I am sorry to hear about your brither. I hope your vertigo is better soon.

I could potentially plan a drive around day in the summer... I think my next few weekends are too busy to devote a full day. I've been wondering about the islands as well... also the zoo assuming the strike is indeed settled... and yes, absolutely we can do another subway stop...

I am so sorry to read of all of these troubles. I am a little out of touch with everyone just now. I am sure that it wont be long before your creativity demands attention. In the meanwhile, lovely candid shot and description.

Sorry to hear about your brother. I hope he turns around before they have to do another transplant. I don't think there's anything done for the benefit of the common folk anymore. Here in PA we even have to pay a "privilege tax" if we're lucky enough to have a job in PA. Really?! I've been riding on archive shots for a couple weeks now. It's not that I've lost the phojo, but I just don't feel like driving around looking for pictures- i. e. I'm lazy!! Don't push yourself into another vertigo bout- take your time and like you did today, just take a few shots. It will all be there when you feel better.

Kas
It's the same in the UK - if you want to collect it in person they charge you more when it's quite obviously cheaper for them! Sorry to read about your brother. As Anne says, hope he turns around. Stay safe and well.

Darn you have a lot going on in your life right now, I hope everything turns around and things look up. Nice candid capture. Where are you traveling too?

I hope you are getting some sort of help with that vertigo! Sounds like a good day to be out enjoying what's going on! Our passport requirements seem a breeze after what you have to do!
