i couldn't get the song out of my head so i thought i'd better put it to rest. blame the 52-week challenge with last week's technical prompt as 'twilight zone'.
there are three different phases of twilight - that time when the sun has actually sunk off the horizon at dusk, or just before it rises up from the horizon at dawn. each of the three, civil twilight, nautical twilight, and astronomical twilight is defined by the position of the sun below the horizon, or solar angle.
civil twilight occurs just after sunset or just before sunrise. today, dusk civil twilight in toronto started at 8:43 p.m. soon after sunset and lasted until 9:16 p.m. as the earth's atmosphere scatters and reflects the sun's rays, the sky is then painted bright yellow and orange that turns to deep pinkish orange as civil twilight ends. this was taken at 9:13 just before the start of nautical twilight and you can see that the pink colours in the sky has deepened.
that there is highway 401 a main traffic artery of the province.
Thanks for information about the different twilight, some of that I did not know. Love the shot, wish I had a view like that. And yes, I do remember the song.
Of course I remember this song. But I was thinking Johnny Mathis sang it. A beautiful photo, interesting information, and a fabulous walk down memory lane
I love that song. Thank you for again stealing my words @louannwarren Smile. I also think your image is beautiful. Thanks for the information. I really had thought there were only two twilight times. Now I am better informed!!
Perfect for this challenge - I love the line of red car lights highlighting the slope of the road. It tells the story of all these people just driving through the twilight zone without giving it a second thought, but you are there with your camera capturing - even immortalising - the zone.
Great song and photo combination
