the world has changed a lot in my 65 years. Christmas didn't used to be this frantic, stressful, shallow event. most people i've talked to these days would say "i hate Christmas" whilst walking briskly holding big shopping bags. why would anyone brave the shopping malls to buy gifts if they hate Christmas.
and then there's the open gift bag where the item is simply put in the bag covered with paper tissues. what happened to gift wrapping and the element of surprise that goes with it.
and then, there's the gift card...
on another matter, you will notice that the days are starting to grow longer. cheers!
The Christmas season sure has to be managed or it can get you down. We only buy gifts for the 4 small children in the family, that helps! These are lovely gifts.
a beautifully elegant photo of gifts. I agree with all your observations but as I age have become one who does less and less. It is after all for the young!
So pleased to see the art of gift wrapping isn't dead. I too, despise the gift bag! In fact, just don't get me started on the subject of gift purchasing either … how can members of the same family have such a different and inflexible approach? Enough to make anyone go bah - humbug.
