down by the boardwalk by summerfield

down by the boardwalk

the boardwalk south of our office building when i went there a few days ago. i'm always taking a photo of this boardwalk whenever i'm down there. it was deserted that day as it was very very cold indeed, as you can see the water in here is frozen.

now there are just a few places with scattered ice sheets and the ferry and water taxis are having a rather easy time navigating the lake.

i apologize my rather poor showing at commenting but scheds are hectic.
Fabulous shot of this lovely scene and leading lines, all the way to the Ferry.

The leading lines work so well to the ship, good story.

Planes in the far background? Interesting, all that's taking place in one photo!

It looks like a nice place to sit and ponder, but it must be noisy with the airport so close. Nice shot

The planes look like they are sitting on the water. Ha!

@Weezilou - why, yes, that's the toronto island airport where porter flies from.

@shannejw - i'm not sure that's the regular ferry that plies to and from the islands. but this was taken on the day when one ferry got stranded on the icy waters. the ferry docks are behind me.

@helstor - the planes are bombardier turboprops. they're almost silent, as whenever i sit and wait for a plane to land, i have to be on alert or see it coming because one can always miss it or it's too late to see as they're almost quiet. in fact, with the elevated highway just two blocks north, the noise from the cars overcome the planes' sounds. it is true though that when the engines are revved at night, they could still be heard but not like when you live near the international airport

Nice leading lines, especially in black and white.

some great lines to this one from the barrier chain on the left, to the boardwalk itself, to the benches on the right and so much to see beyond that! Well done

Glad you are still managing to take photos and post, despite the hectic schedule. Looks like the cold has given you the place to yourself here. The railing makes a great and decorative leading line to the transport activity at the back.
