is it a peony or a rose

my friend albert, the guy who manages allen gardens, was nowhere to be found last saturday so i couldn't find out if this is a peony or a rose. my guess is it's a peony but the leaves quite got me stumped as they looked like the leaves of a rose. this didn't have a tag or a nameplate next to it.

but whatever it is, it's red and it fits for today's red colour. i have about 104 photos of plants and flowers that i don't know what to do with so i would do a flower series for this week. i promise no artificial colouring.

I would of thought a camellia by the look of the dark green shiny leaves.. But certainly red for your rainbow..

it's lovely - this time of year, I'd assume camellia - one of the gardens near me has one just like this in flower at the moment - but I'd have to trespass on their garden to get a shot of it.
