i'm guessing this is a black spruce. it is about 7 feet high, a very young tree, really. it is right outside the west door of the church where i attend service. the cones are what attracted me to take a photo as i've only seen cones in crafts. they look rather christmassy. there is a little plaque next to it - in memory of Jill Reeve, a former member of the church who died two years ago after a long battle with cancer. she was very popular to the congregation.
