the ten days that i spent away from work and home and photo-walking with fellow 365ers @jyokota and @domenicododaro was also a true gourmet exercise. it is enjoyable when you not only share a hobby but also taste in food. excepting a few food restrictions, we very much ate the same kinds of food.
junko has a phenomenal hummus recipe which domenico and daughter greta made, with a tiny variation in the spice sense. it came out fabulous and we were feasting on it for quite a few days. i tried to duplicate it in a much smaller quantity and with less spices as i didn't have some of the needed ones, but i think it still came out pretty good, a little different perhaps but good in its own way.
i discovered that "whole foods market", a grocery chain that sells a lot of organic stuff, is also in toronto to my delight and surprise. as in chicago, they cater to the condo community and i found one rather near me and which involves just one straight route from where i live. i got some 'walnut and date cake' which is terrific with cheese and pear and blueberries. and that's what i had tonight for supper, along with some smoked salmon slices, olive foccacia bread. pushed it down with some freshly brewed iced tea.
surprisingly, i actually lost 5 lbs during the trip even though we were eating regularly; the long walks definitely contributed..
