blue

it was a beautiful autumn day for our thanksgiving sunday. we had pumpkin tarts and pumpkin mini-muffins for coffee and tea after church service. then my sister and i went to have lunch at our favourite vegetarian restaurant. we were planning to see the movie "judy" but a portion of our subway line was closed this weekend so we postponed to see it next weekend. in chinatown, they have some unique place markers, perhaps by some of the businesses around there and this was at the kensington market. i don't know what this signifies except that i would guess it's supposed to be felines taking over the world. this has been there for forever and i've always photographed it but never with this kind of light that the details actually show.

the canon 30-day prompt is "blue" .

speaking of blue, let me tell you a story that my late aunt told us a long time ago when she first visited toronto. one of her daughters has a son who from the time he could speak would say that he is a girl. this of course didn't do well for the father -- filipino men have this very annoying macho complex -- who would beat the child often but the child was insistent that he is a girl and even asked if his parents could have his little weiner removed and replaced with a girl's thing.

one day, the father got really pissed and beat the child again and told him that he would beat him up until his eyes turn blue unless he stops being a sissy. so that day the boy was beat up until he was black and blue. however, the next morning, mikey, the boy, went to his father and said "dad, how come my eyes aren't blue yet?" at that point the father realized there was no changing his son's predicament and truly tried to accept him as he is. until he died, the father's wish was for his son to become a 'man' but his wish wasn't to be granted. mikey and his husband michael were married two years ago.
Nice shot, beautiful blue sky, glad the story of Mikey got a happy ending 😅

I’m glad Mikey’s father finally understood but oh my what a family trial. I too like all the blue in this!

Interesting artwork. Perhaps this cat is not "King of the Jungle," but "King of the World." Sad but true tail. I'm glad the father finally relented. I hope that he and Mikey made amends before the father died.
